Childhood as an Air Force brat; family history of military service; JROTC in Phoenix, Arizona; father’s views on women in the military; enlistment in the Air Force in a recently opened non-traditional job; sexual harassment and assault in the military; stationing in England; ROTC at the University of Texas at Austin; Administrative Officer’s School; stationing in Germany; choice not to deploy in support of the Persian Gulf War; post-Gulf War drawdown of forces; difficulty finding a civilian job; stigma of military personnel; volunteer in the Texas State Guard; Grace After Fire mission and programs; issues facing women veterans; predominance of homelessness among women veterans; lack of awareness of resources among women veterans; views on women in combat; slowly decreasing stigma of women in the military; women veterans’ views of veterans status; advice for future women in the military.
