For the South Asians in North Texas Oral History Project. Past president of the Hindu Temple Society of North Texas and Indian immigrant in the United States. Experiences with racism and discrimination during the Civil Rights Era in the 1960s as well as the specific political developments that changed his life and allowed him to stay in the U.S. Childhood in India, details of his immigration to the U.S., master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin, work experiences with nuclear power plants, move to DFW. As the Hindu Temple Society President, Shah was a crucial part of the building the first Hindu temple in the DFW Metroplex. Changing perceptions of Indians and contexts of the origin of the Indian immigrant community in the Dallas area.
