For the DFW Immigration Oral History Project. Childhood in Arolsen, Germany. Father’s career in Schutzstaffel (SS or Protective Squad that served as paramilitary Corps of the Nazi Party). Studied zoology at the Philipps University of Marburg graduating with a PhD in 1964. Memories of working at family-owned laundry business for his father while obtaining his education. Decision to pursue career in U.S. Reflections on his teaching career and living in the United States.
