Childhood in Dallas, Texas, medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Dallas, and internship at the University of Michigan prior to enlistment in the Army Air Corp as a surgeon with the Third Air Commando Group. Experiences in the Philippines providing medicinal care to military personnel and local civilians, and reunion with a medical school classmate who was interred as a POW at Cabanatuan.
