His experiences as an undergraduate and master's student in the Chemistry Department at North Texas State College, 1948-52 Influence of Professor Dewey Mark as his chemistry teacher at Paris (Texas) Junior College; influence of Professor Price Truitt of North Texas State College on his decision to pursue the PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Illinois; employment with the Shell Chemical Company and later with the Jefferson Chemical Company; decision to enter law school at the University of Houston; employment with Eli Lilly as a patent attorney, 1967-93; comments about various fellow students at North Texas who went on to successful careers in science.
