His volunteering for the draft, 1943; assignment to Burma, 1944; attachment to Merrill’s Marauders (5307th Composite Unit [Provisional]); combat around Myitkyina, Burma, 1944; medical evacuation to Ledo; assignment to the Mars Task Force (5332nd Brigade [Provisional]), October, 1944; combat around Bhamo, Burma; transfer to the 612th Artillery; opening of the Burma Road; transfer to Kunming, China, for artillery training, March, 1945; teaching artillery tactics to Chinese troops with the Chinese Combat and Training Command; resumption of fighting between Chinese Nationalist and Communist forces, 1945.
