Description | For the Postpartum Depression and Maternal Mental Health Oral History Project. Divya Kumar discusses her work as a clinical social worker and psychotherapist with a specialization in perinatal mental health. She discusses meeting fellow therapists Desiree Israel and Jabina Coleman in 2016, and working with them to found the Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of Color in 2017. The Alliance then merged with Postpartum Support International (PSI). Kumar describes PSI’s difficulties addressing racism and reaching people of color, and how the work of the Alliance (with the assistance of Wendy N. Davis of PSI) is working to address some of these issues. |
